About the Sacrament of Marriage

The Sacrament of Marriage is a visible sign of God’s love for the church and is a lasting commitment of a man and a woman to a lifelong partnership based on love and faith. In this Sacrament, the man and the woman administer the sacrament to each other as the priest or deacon stands as a witness on behalf of the church.

It is a sacred covenant, a public promise made by the husband and the wife to be true to each other until death parts them. In order for a marriage to be valid, the couple must enter into the covenant out of their own free will, without fear or coercion. They are also asked to honor and be true to each other for the rest of their lives, as well as to accept children lovingly from God and bring them up according to the law of Christ and His Church.

If you would like to be married at St. Paul the Apostle Church, please complete the Wedding Inquiry Form below, and Dr. Laurie Navin, Coordinator of Marriage & Family Life, will be sure to reach out to you.

Congratulations on your engagement and decision to marry in the Catholic Church!

The Sacrament of Matrimony is a visible sign of God’s love for the church and is a lasting commitment of a man and a woman to a lifelong partnership based on love and faith. At St. Paul the Apostle Church, we are excited to prepare you for the Sacrament of Marriage and a life together with God.

Couples must have known each other for at least six months, be at least 18 years of age, live within St. Paul parish boundaries, and at least one of them must be Catholic.

Couples living outside of St. Paul boundaries should register in the proper territorial parish where they now live and celebrate their marriage at that Parish.  If a couple living outside of our boundaries is committed to being long-term, active members at St. Paul, they may request a wedding date after they have been registered active members for at least six months, including regularly attending Mass, actively engaging in the Church community, and consistently contributing to St. Paul using online banking or envelopes.

We wish you a lifetime of happiness as you live out the Sacrament of Matrimony and make God visible to others through the gift of a faithful, Christ-centered married life. We hope that participation in a Catholic church will be a part of your new relationship together, and we welcome you to become involved in our parish family.
